About this tool

This tool turns IP geolocation into something visual: the latitude and longitude associated with an address are plotted on an embedded map, and a button opens the same point in Google Maps. It is a quick way to show a colleague or a customer where a connection appears to originate, for example when reviewing a suspicious login.

Remember that the position is the registered location of the network, typically a city centre, and that VPNs and mobile carriers move it around. The IP Geolocation page gives the same coordinates with more context.

How to use it — quick steps

  1. 01

    Enter the ip address

Type or paste the ip address in the field above. The lookup runs from our servers, not from your device.

  2. 02

    Press "Show on map"

Press "Show on map" or Ctrl + Enter. The result appears below in a few seconds. Results can be copied.

  3. 03

    Read the result

It appears in the dark panel under the form in a few seconds. Every block has [copy] and other actions.

Key features of this tool

  • External lookups

The lookup runs from our infrastructure, so you see what the public internet sees without exposing your own IP address or network.

  • Fast and cached

Results come back in seconds; identical lookups are cached for a few minutes to keep the service fast and responsive for everyone.

  • Easy to reuse

Every result block can be copied with one click or downloaded as a text file, and tables can also be saved as CSV for your reports.

Frequently asked questions

Does the pin show the exact position of the user?

No. The coordinates are the centre of the city or region the network is registered in. IP geolocation cannot locate a person or a building.

Can I open the location in another map service?

Copy the coordinates from the result and paste them into the Coordinates to Google Maps tool, which also offers OpenStreetMap, Bing and Apple Maps links.

Why is the map empty?

A few address blocks have no coordinates on record (anycast, satellite or freshly allocated ranges). The country is still shown when known.
